It’s graduation day! I am filled with mixed emotions. Tonight, my oldest child, will walk across the stage and get his high school diploma. On one hand, I am so proud that he is graduating. But the other part of me is sad that this day has arrived because it means soon he will be going off to college.
The day you become a parent your life changes. Everyone warns you this will happen and it’s true! Eighteen years later, I feel as emotional on high school graduation day as I did the day I gave birth, because now I realize time is up. Every moment of my child’s life has been the ultimate blessing.
As I sit surround by family and friends I wonder where have all the years gone. It hasn’t been that long since he started kindergarten!
Senior year is a year of letting go, when motherhood becomes a complicated mixture of pushing them forward and holding them back. So I shed a tear and share a smile,and remember all the while ,that although it may now be time to move on, memories will last our whole life long.
Austin as you close one chapter of your life and get ready to start a new one, remember:
- That life is not always fair but God is always faithful.
- Listen to your invoice it will never fail you.
- Surround yourself with people who care about you, and avoid the ones that don’t.
- Remember that you always have a choice. No matter the situation.
- There is no place like home. Never forget that you always have a home to come to.
- Remember the Golden Rule treat others the way you want to be treated.
- Show gratitude to all of those people who have gotten you to where you are today. Don’t look down on anyone unless you are helping them up.
- Life doesn’t always follow the plans you have made out for yourself. Be prepared for highs and lows. Celebrate the highs and ask for help during the lows.
Thank you for being a good kid and staying the course. My love for you is unconditional. I will always be your number one fan and your loudest cheerleader. And no matter the distance, we are forever mother and son.
My arms are not big enough to carry you anymore, but my heart will always have ample room to carry you to the ends of the earth.
Enjoy your graduation! I’m proud of your achievement, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.

The ceremony was scheduled at 7:00 PM at an outdoor stadium. There had been a thread of rain all week long and this time the weather man was right! It poured down rain most of the afternoon it finally stopped at 6 o’clock. The sun came out and it was hot and humid but then there was a beautiful sunset.
The next day we had a lovely graduation party at our home. That evening my Mom who was visiting from Corpus Christi became ill. Took her to the ER they admitted her for an emergency surgery and stayed in the hospital for 5 days. She scared the heck out of me but is now back at her home doing well.
