It’s not Christmas at the Jenson home until the aroma of cranberries, cinnamon, orange and other wonderful spices is wafting through the air!
No room spray or candle can recreate the aroma of real spices. I’m a big fan of making homemade stove potpourri, which is basically just simmering a pot of natural ingredients to give your home an amazing scent! Bring the smells of autumn indoors with all natural fall scents, like cinnamon sticks, apple peels, orange rinds, cloves, apple juice, vanilla, and nutmeg.
This is the recipe I use throughout the holidays. It takes about 30 minutes to start filling your home with the scent of “warm fuzzies”. Just kidding. But really… try it!
Ingredients:
- lemons
- oranges
- apples
- cranberries
- cinnamon sticks
- whole cloves
- fresh herbs
- vanilla extract
- 4 cups water
Instructions:
I use both lemon and orange peels, and slices, fresh cranberries, frozen will work as well.
Fill a saucepan with 4 cups of water and bring to a boil. Add the ingredients, boil for a couple of minutes, then turn the heat down to simmer. This recipe can simmer all day, make sure to refill the water as needed, keeping the pot half full at all times.
You’re gonna love it. It’s my favorite way to make my home feel cozy during the autumn and winter holidays!

I defiantly agree that no room spray or candle can recreate the aroma of real spices.
I love the addition of cranberries to this recipe. Pinned for later 🙂
