The best thing about Ebates is that it is passive income. You don’t have to do any extra work to receive the money! The concept of Ebates is simple: You go to ebates.com when you have some online shopping you need to do and search for your retailer of choice. You click on the retailer through Ebates and connect to the retailers website. From there you complete your shopping like normal. Afterward, a pre-determined percentage of your purchase is refunded to you a few days after your purchase is complete. Every retailer offers a different amount of cash back, the amount of which is clearly listed on Ebates.

Save on travel with Ebates

If you regularly book travel using these sites – Travelocity, Priceline, Hotwire, Expedia or any of the others that are partnered with Ebates – make sure that you connect to the booking site via Ebates so you can earn a little bit of your purchase price back. If you already have an Amazon Prime account – which means free two-day shipping and that you possibly purchase anything and everything on a whim thanks to Amazon’s everyday low prices – combining Amazon and Ebates is a great opportunity for some mega savings!

So what’s the catch, you might ask? There isn’t one. Ebates and similar companies have agreements with the companies they work with In return for sending the websites and stores traffic and paying customers, the companies give Ebates a commission. Ebates, in turn, gives its users a commission as well.

The stores are happy because they got business in an increasingly competitive environment, You are happy because you got a discount and a rebate, and Ebates plays the happy middleman.

Tips to Save More at Ebates

Ebates is a great way to make some money back on the purchases you’re already making. But the awesome thing about the site is that it is completely independent from the shopping you do with each individual retailer. What I mean is that the cash back you receive from Ebates is based on the final total that you spend (excluding tax and shipping).

If you have a coupon for 50 percent off your order, go ahead and use it! If you’re shopping at Macys and they’re offering 20 percent off and then you have a coupon for an extra 30 percent off, go ahead and take advantage of both promotions… and then you’ll still earn money back through Ebates as well! Combine coupons and Ebates for double the savings as often as possible!

Bonus: Ebates will even tell you about many of the coupons that are available at stores. There’s a page full of coupons and coupon codes on the site. They want you to save as much as possible!

How to make money with Ebates

The process is very easy. Just sign up for a free Ebates account, start shopping from the Ebates website (use their links and coupons to go to the stores where you want to shop), and make purchases as you normally would. Ebates tracks the purchases you make and sends you a rebate.

Checks are only sent out every three months, so you may have to wait awhile from the time you make your purchase until you receive your rebate or referral bonus. Ebates pays on a quarterly schedule, by paper check or send your payment through Paypal. You must have earned at least $5.01 over the previous quarter to receive a payment.
